Red Bridge and Chain Bridge provide opportunities to compare the banks and their buildings. Treat them as viewpoints as well as connections. Remember the river’s direction and a few recognisable structures; they will help you make sense of the panorama later.
Follow the selected urban approaches between the bridges. A visible riverbank does not establish a continuous riverside path. Pause for photographs where others can still pass, paying particular attention to crossings beside roads and any narrow stretches of pavement.
Make the climb part of the experience
Bagrati stands on Ukimerioni Hill. As you climb, look back from suitable places to notice the changing river perspective and the relationship between houses. Steps and gradients deserve their own energy allowance even when the overall route appears compact.
At the cathedral, divide your attention between the city view and the exterior architecture. Compare the building’s substantial volume with the smaller urban fabric below. Indoor entry depends on actual conditions, and this religious site calls for considerate behaviour and locally posted rules.
The garden starts after the finish
The walking line ends outside the Botanical Garden gate. Reaching this point is not the same as exploring its plant collection, and it does not establish that the gates are open. Add the garden only after checking the visiting arrangements.
If you intend to enter, reserve energy and time for additional paths and your eventual return. If entry is unavailable, the route does not require finding another way through a fence. Finish at the gate and choose your onward journey on city streets.

What if I prefer to avoid climbing?
Choose the White Bridge and cultural-centre walk. It avoids the required Bagrati ascent, although kerbs and occasional steps may remain.
