Start at Dmitrievskaya Tower
The start is beside the tower facing Minin and Pozharsky Square. Check the Kremlin website for open gates before setting off: the walk passes through the fortress grounds
Allow about 25 minutes of walking, or 65–100 minutes with exterior stops. These are calculated and editorial estimates; museum interiors and the separate wall walk are not included
Find the cathedral inside the Kremlin
Follow the Kremlin paths to Archangel Michael Cathedral. The small tent-roofed church was completed in 1631 and contains the tomb of Kuzma Minin
View the exterior, then follow the route towards the Kremlin exit. Plan entry to the active church around services. If a gate is closed, use an available exit and recheck the onward path
Stay above the Chkalov Stairs
The next stop is the Valery Chkalov monument. The stairs descend from here to the Lower Volga Embankment; this walk stays at the top and continues along the Upper Volga Embankment
Treat the full descent as an extra, with either a return climb or a different finishing point. The main route also includes slopes and some steps, so step-free access has not been established
Finish at Rukavishnikov Estate
Continue along the Upper Volga Embankment to number 7. The Rukavishnikov Estate is a former merchant mansion used by the history museum. The outdoor walk stops at its facade
For the interiors, check tickets and available visiting slots on the museum website. The walk ends at the estate rather than returning to Dmitrievskaya Tower; allow separately for the journey back
