Leaving the town
From the Benjamen Glonti sculpture, walk towards the roadside panorama point. Do not expect urban pavements along the entire remaining section. Assess traffic where the roadside narrows; if walking comfortably is not possible, visit the monastery after arriving separately. Do not enter the carriageway for a photograph
Old Bodbe and the newer cathedral
The small historic St George basilica and large new St Nino Cathedral are separate buildings. Compare their scale and arrangement instead of treating the whole ensemble as a single ancient church. The monastery garden and services determine visiting rules. The descent to the spring is not included in this track
Stops in route order
Benjamen Glonti statue — Bronze film-character sculpture at the southern exit from the town centre. A convenient starting point for the walk towards Bodbe
Sighnaghi panorama on the Bodbe road — Open view of the town and fortified hillside on the way to the monastery. Stay clear of the carriageway; do not stand in the road for a photograph
Old church at Bodbe — Small St George basilica at Bodbe Monastery, associated with St Nino. This is the old church; distinguish it from the newer large cathedral nearby
New St Nino Cathedral at Bodbe — Large domed cathedral beside the historic basilica and monastery garden. View from the open path and observe monastery rules
Access and planning
Access depends on the monastery; if gates are closed, finish outside. Bring water for the road in hot weather
For the short version, open the separate two-church route after arriving at Bodbe
