Understand the square before moving on
Et’hem Bey Mosque and the Clock Tower provide reference points around the wider central space. A broad view shows their relationship. Photographic positions need to stay clear of through traffic
Beyond the square, the route changes scale and individual buildings become more immediate. At the Orthodox cathedral, pause to compare its silhouette with the mosque near the start. This is a useful way to connect the religious stops with the living city around them, instead of treating each as an isolated historical exhibit
A manageable museum visit
With limited time, Bunk’Art 2 or the House of Leaves can be the main visit. The House of Leaves covers secret surveillance and repression, requiring time for reading and reflection. A quiet break afterwards may help. A short walking connection does not establish enough time for both museum visits
Bunk’Art 2 is the central site. Bunk’Art 1 is a different destination outside this route. Exterior sightseeing remains an option subject to local access rules. The walk has not been verified on foot; crossings and temporary barriers may change the mapped approaches
Map and stops
The numbered markers match the stops below. A marker does not guarantee an open entrance
Access: Approach or exterior view; admission to the interior is not confirmed
Skanderbeg Square
A large pedestrian square with the Skanderbeg monument brings together key central landmarks
The open square has limited sun shelter. A shaded break needs planning

Before the walk
- Carry water for the open square and choose shaded breaks according to the actual weather
- Confirm the museum name before buying a ticket, especially when choosing between the two Bunk’Art sites
- Quiet time after the museum may help, especially if the subject of repression is difficult for the group
Check hours, tickets and access with each venue. Barriers may change the track and queues may add time. Accessibility has not been surveyed on site
Questions before the walk
Is a centre walk possible without museum visits?
Yes. The route connects the places for an exterior introduction. A façade cannot communicate a museum’s contents, however, so make that choice deliberately
Does this walk include Tirana’s Pyramid?
No. It belongs to the separate route through Rinia Park and the southern centre. Continuing there depends on remaining time
Sources and verification
