At the Ulugbek Madrasah, start with an overall view and locate it in relation to its two neighbours. From the square, notice how the portals face one another and how open space makes the composition readable. Before approaching the decoration, choose a viewpoint showing those relationships. Use it to compare details later.
At Tilla-Kori and Sher-Dor, compare portal edges, tile patterns and the transition from large forms to small details. Instead of photographing every surface, pick one difference that will help you recognise each façade afterwards. If courtyards or interiors interest you, treat them as a separate visit and first check tickets, events and any current restrictions.
Continue beyond the ceremonial square
Chorsu changes your attention from the grand ensemble to a smaller building. The continuation towards the Maturidi mausoleum then runs through residential lanes. Look at street width, bends and the boundaries between public and domestic space. This section shows that the historic city extends beyond its celebrated square, even when the impressions become less monumental.
Before leaving Registan, decide whether you have enough energy for an unhurried continuation. If the ensemble has absorbed your available time, save the lanes for another outing. Watch paving and kerbs, respect closed courtyards and avoid photographing into homes. Approach the mausoleum by the permitted public route rather than using residential property as a shortcut.

Questions before the walk
Does Registan count as four separate attractions?
The square and its three madrasahs have separate markers for orientation. They form one ensemble with several points of attention, not four distant complexes.
Is Shah-i-Zinda part of this walk?
No. Bibi-Khanym, Siyob Bazaar and Shah-i-Zinda have a separate route. Plan that stage with additional attention to stairs and visits to sacred sites.
