Start at Tenryū-ji

The Zen temple has a pond garden. The garden, temple buildings and Hatto hall have different admission arrangements; choose the required ticket in advance

Walk through the bamboo

Continue from Nonomiya towards the bamboo grove. The shrine has distinctive black wooden torii. Keep narrow sections clear when taking photographs

Climb towards the Sagano temples

Jōjakkō-ji has a pagoda and maple-covered slopes; Giō-ji has a moss garden. Slopes and steps may be slippery after rain
