From the river to the Padang
At the Asian Civilisations Museum and Victoria Theatre, the buildings’ relationship with the river is easy to see. The National Gallery joins two distinct historic buildings. Rather than trying to cover the collection in one brief stop, first compare their façades and positions beside the open Padang
Cathedral, CHIJMES and the history museum
The white St Andrew’s Cathedral changes the scale after the monumental porticoes. CHIJMES adds former convent architecture and courtyards, while the National Museum completes the sequence with its domed building. This is a useful point to choose between Fort Canning Hill and finishing the urban walk
Stops in route order

National Gallery Singapore — Former Supreme Court and City Hall joined into an art museum. Compare the two façades from the Padang side
St Andrew's Cathedral — White Gothic Revival cathedral beside the civic district. Check garden and church access separately from the street route
CHIJMES — Former convent complex with a Gothic chapel and courtyards. Avoid entering event spaces when access is restricted
National Museum of Singapore — Singapore history museum with a white domed façade. Combine the exterior stop with a walk beside Fort Canning
